Taxes
All foreign nationals living, visiting, working, or studying in the U.S. are responsible for compliance with United States laws and regulations. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the U.S. government agency that administers tax regulations, has issued strict regulations regarding the taxation and reporting of payments made to “resident aliens”. Income tax information for foreign national employees is located on the IRS website.
J scholars must adhere to different regulations. Information about filing income taxes as a J scholar is also posted on the IRS website.
Travel
To be granted entry or re-entry to the United States as a non-immigrant, foreign nationals must possess a valid U.S. visa and/or an original form issued by the United States federal government which provides evidence of the foreign national’s non-immigrant status.
