International Agreements

The University of Florida extends itself globally through international agreements. These agreements are facilitated through the International Center. International agreements can be made between the University of Florida and another international institution providing for the reciprocal exchange of students and general collaboration on faculty visits, academic interchange, or other matters of mutual interest. Contracts and other arrangements involving research, publication rights, or intellectual property are processed through Research and Graduate Programs.

Reciprocal Agreements

Reciprocal Agreements provide for the equal exchange of students between the University of Florida and an international institution. They are detailed, legally binding contracts. The agreements' provisions address administrative concerns of either institution: tuition and credit exchange; selection of students; declaration of responsibility regarding housing, transportation, risk policy, advertisement, etc; and administration of the program. Pre-approved reciprocal agreements are available for download. Please refer to "Directions for completing pre-approved agreements."

Cooperative Agreements

The primary objective of Cooperative Agreements is the development of collaborative efforts between UF and international institutions. These agreements are broad declarations of the intent to promote exchange between the faculty and students of the two institutions as well as the exchange of academic and research information. More specific legal documents must be created in response to the specific activities generated by these agreements. Pre-approved cooperative agreements are available for download. Please refer to "Directions for completing pre-approved agreements."

Other Agreements

Occasionally, agreements are created that do not easily fit within the constraints of UFIC's pre-approved reciprocal or cooperative agreements. This can happen when the cooperating institution prefers to use their standard format rather than the UF format or when the intent of the agreement varies from the standard approved formats. All agreements not in the standard UF format will be submitted by UFIC to General Counsel for review and approval prior to signature.
