Strategic Plan
Our strategic plan incorporates programs, activities and support to UF faculty, staff, students, teachers, communities and businesses. We provide technical, administrative, and managerial support to faculty and staff in the development of cross-campus international programs, including proposals for additional funding and resources. We coordinate the various institutional programs associated with international education and facilitate interaction amongst these programs. We develop new international programs with faculty and staff including curricular, research, and training programs. We particularly focus on federal programs and funds to supplement state and private funding for international activities.
Our strategic plan addresses the development of all students as future global citizens and leaders. From helping American students learn and develop intercultural competencies, to ensuring that international students are fully included in all aspects of university and community life in the U.S., we create global connections that cross boundaries to connect people of different backgrounds and worldviews.
Our strategic plan also addresses K-12 teacher training and community outreach. Students entering the university should be aware of important international and global issues well before their freshman year at UF. In order to prepare these students to become engaged global citizens, we first engage their K-12 teachers through training programs on international and global issues. We also provide outreach to our local and state communities to raise their awareness of international and global issues through seminars, workshops and conferences.
Our strategic plan targets Florida’s businesses and their leaders. Florida’s economy is tightly tied to the global economy, is increasingly reliant on international trade, migration, and tourism, and is affected by global security concerns. Our international education activities connect Florida’s businesses from the local to the global level.
