Binnaz Toprak, Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Bosphorus University in Istanbul, Turkey will be giving a talk on Monday, October 31, at 12:30, in the conference room in Anderson Hall 211. Professor Toprak is a political theorist and the author of numerous books and articles on religion and politics in Turkey (most recently she co-authored, with Ali Carkoglu, a multifaceted study of religion, society and politics in Turkey which included both extensive public opinion surveys as well as innovative analysis of the Turkish state. Her talk is entitled "Islam and Democracy in Turkey."
